The new Festival Foods Field at Aldo Santaga Stadium within Kress Family Outdoor Recreation Complex hosted its grand opening on Friday, August 24, 2018 after opening its doors for the men's and women's soccer season.
The new soccer facility is part of a $4.9 million project that will include a state-of-the-art soccer stadium, featuring a turf field, plaza, lights, permanent bleachers that seat 500 people, and a restroom and concession building, along with a significant renovation to the softball field to include a permanent press box and bleachers, restrooms, cosmetic upgrades and walkway for easier fan accessibility. The project also features new technology infrastructure in order to stream soccer and softball games on ESPN3, which will provide national coverage for the university.
Prior to 2018, the old Aldo Santaga Stadium sat across from East Circle Dr. on a natural grass field, which was once the number one fairway of the Shorewood Country Club. The field still exists, now as a field for UW-Green Bay intramurals, with lights that were formerly used to light Lambeau Field for Green Bay Packer football games.
